National Casual Dining Burger Concept Consolidates Local Services and Moves From Frame Relay to MPLS.

The Situation:
When OCx engaged the client, our audit revealed excessive telecom spending on unnecessary telecom services, slammed charges and excessive POTS line counts with multiple vendors. The client had been sold telecom services that were inappropriate and costly, and was under multi-year agreements for the services. In addition, the frame relay network was increasing in cost, PCI DSS compliance were becoming major concerns, and new HR applications were being planned that required increased bandwidth and more flexible disaster recovery options. Because the company opens 35+ locations per year, they needed assistance establishing new telecom services at their locations. The challenge, therefore, was to clean up and reduce the cost of all telecom services and assist the company in opening new locations, and implement a new WAN that would meet their growing needs, with little to no cost increase.
OCx Solution:
First, OCx assisted in recovery of slammed charges and erroneously billed services. We then consolidated local services with one, national carrier, and reduced long distance spending. Next, OCx renegotiated the pricing and terms of their current WAN contracts to save money, and to limit the extension of the contracts so that a migration plan could be established. When the frame relay contracts expired, OCx proposed an MPLS network with a Tier I carrier that would offer class of service, ease of management and increased security to help satisfy SOX/ PCI compliance requirements. In addition, OCx managed all new store openings and service moves, adds and changes, working closely with construction planners and building contractors to ensure smooth, timely store openings.
