DSL IP-VPN

Although OCx does not recommend shared line DSL for IP-VPN network connectivity, Dedicated loop ADSL products often provide the cost savings and performance clients are looking for. Many organizations try to eliminate the cost of an extra copper loop by provisioning shared line DSL, but these circuits become problematic, unstable and difficult to troubleshoot. Experience has shown, however, that Dedicated Loop ADSL can be as stable as SDSL circuits, at a much lower cost.

The advantage of a DSL based IP-VPN is cost. DSL represents the lowest cost per Megabite of bandwidth, which is why it has become widely adopted in by retail and restaurant enterprises. The main disadvantage is the greater demands placed on IT staffs to manage and administer the network.
