Wireless WAN / EV-DO
OCx is at the forefront of EV-DO implementations. While it may be a viable option for primary network connectivity in major metropolitan areas, our experience has shown that EV-DO performance can be hit-or-miss for broad based networks.
EV-DO service from Sprint is a cost effective alternative to dial-around failover strategies for restaurant and retail networks. It is also being implemented in national chains interested in implementing Wi-Fi for customer use where PCI compliance may be an issue, or where cost effective circuits are not available. If connectivity to Kiosk locations is limited, EV-DO can be an excellent alternative via Top Global’s 3G Kiosk Router.
OCx also implements EV-DO connectivity to hiring trailers and construction sites where temporary connectivity is needed. EV-DO offers the advantage of zero provisioning and de-provisioning lead times, allowing our customers to react to unexpected network demands without contract termination concerns.
Both SonicWall and Top Global manufacture hardware designed for 3G and EV-DO card use, specifically, the SonicWall TZ 190, Top Global’s MB7000 and MB8900, a router customized for vehicle applications.
